TQ Harris becomes member of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) of the Republic of Liberia.
We are pleased to announce that Mr. T. Q. Harris, Jr. is now a member of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) of the Republic of Liberia.
Leaders of the party have welcomed Mr. Harris and expressed willingness to work with him in promoting his vision which primarily is to radically transform Liberia by weaving into the national fabric, personal accountability, self-reliance, patriotism and respect for rule of law. Also, to maintain Liberia’s unique heritage by investing in historical research to ensure the rich customs and traditions are well preserved.
Mr. Harris, who in 1997 ran as a vice presidential candidate, has worked tirelessly to end the violence and restore hope to the Liberian people. He has never held a position in any previous administration and did not support or aligned himself with a warring faction. Rather, TQ has consistently advocated for the formation of a legal entity in form and shape not unlike an international tribunal that will try individuals bearing the greatest responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Also, he believes victims of the 15-year carnage must be justly compensated.
Thirteen years ago the Election Commission denied Mr. Harris from running for the Presidency as an independent candidate. Since that decision, living conditions for Liberians have gone from bad to worse, reconciliation has yet to begin in earnest, and many have died needlessly; not to mention those killed during the fighting that forced a regime change. Should we again lose this opportunity to end the nightmare, no telling what the next thirteen years will bring.
We call on Liberians at home and abroad to join Mr. T. Q. Harris and the Free Democratic Party. Let us begin the rebuilding process under new visionary leadership with fresh perspectives on moving forward. This nation once again has a shot at a fresh start. Let us make the most of it.
