Striking workers at the Liberia Agriculture Company, LAC Wednesday reportedly burned a generator at the main gate of the plantation.
The aggrieved workers are also said to have destroyed and looted a supermarket at the plantation.
According to sources inside LAC, the protesters also damaged the windshield of a police vehicle and wounded some officers.
abor Minister Tiawan Gongloe confirmed the strike and the acts of vandalism.
Minister Gongloe told Star Radio, the striking workers cut down rubber trees and set up road blocks on the plantation.
Because of the incident, LAC managers are reportedly seeking refuge at UNMIL facilities in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
Police officers were deployed in the area put the situation under control.
The workers’ action is said to be in demand of increased benefits and better wages.
