Calm has returned to Palala, Kpaii District in Bong County following a students’ protest in the area.

Students of the Nyaquoi Bee School earlier Friday set up road blocks in the town preventing normal commercial activities.

Our correspondent says the students also prevented a vehicle carrying a casket to a funeral service from moving.

The students’ action was in support of a go-slow action by their teachers.

The teachers abandoned classes three days ago in demand of six months salary arrears.

Our correspondent says the students want to claim the attention of officials and the towns’ people.

The action was halted after police and the County Education Officer intervened.

Earlier, the CEO Kolliebbo Kapu admitted that government owes the teachers but said negotiations were ongoing.

He said government has assured that the teachers would be paid by November 15.
