Source: Star Radio LiberiaA vigorous search for hidden arms in the Milad Hage compound in Paynesville, outside Monrovia has reportedly backfired.
The exercise was reportedly carried out by officers of the Liberia National Police assigned in the commercial district of Red-light.
Rights Activist Melvin Page alleged the police acting without a search warrant forcibly broke into the Milad Hage compound and handcuffed the security guard.
Mr. Page believes the search team was acting on the orders of a Lebanese businessman opposed to the takeover of the compound by Sam Jawhary.
Sam Jawhary is said to be the legal Executor of the late Milad Hage Estate.
According to Mr. Page, the police commander at Red-Light Zone Five, Depot One confirmed the incident but said it was his deputy who led the search team.
The Commander only identified as Moses named his deputy as Jallah and has since apologized to the affected party for the act.
Despite the Commander’s apology, Mr. Page has called on the Justice Ministry to launch a full-scale investigation into the incident.
When contacted, Police spokesman George Bardue told Star Radio he did not have the details of what actually transpired in Paynesville.
