The Liberia National Police has reported the discovery of Alice Pumudu , the girl whose disappearance sparked series of street protests in Bong Mines .

Police spokesman George Bardu told Star Radio Alice was found Saturday in the Old Coal Field vicinity, in Paynesville, outside Monrovia.

Mr. Bardu said Alice was found with her grand mother and cited maltreated as reason for fleeing from her guidance in Bong Mines.

According to Mr. Bardu, Alice has been transferred to the Fuama police sub-station along with her guidance for further question.

Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police says it has arrested three women considered the ring leaders in last week’s demonstration in Bong Mines.

Police spokesman George Bardu said the three women leaders were arrested in connection with rioting in the old mining district of Bong Mines.

The arrest follows protest actions last week over the mysterious disappearance of Alice Pumudu.

One report said on the first day of the protest, the women set roadblocks, but days later stormed the magisterial court and police station in the town.
